The same average, everyday stars of the main sequence rings can sit in your ears and be used like little flashlights if, maybe, you like to read at night under the covers...
The more massive a star is, the stronger the gravity, the denser the material becomes in the core, the faster it burn through its fuel, and the brighter it is. Massive stars might last only a few hundred thousand years before they run out of hydrogen to burn and the core collapses. At this point it's no longer a main sequence star and it enters its next phase where it starts burning helium. We can go into that in our next lecture, but, spoiler alert, they eventually >explode<.
