As glaciers move in their valleys, they wreak all kinds of havoc. They abrade rocks from their valleys, they pop bedrock chunks from below, and they can dislodge material in much the same way that ice forming in roadway cracks means a springtime of pothole fixing. These rocks then hitch a ride with the glacier until it melts and lets it off far from where it started. Like that Uber driver who took me an hour past my house because it was dark and I was sleepy.
Anyway, when people first studied the giant, out-of-place boulders they called them Erratics, which honestly, is a great name, so I stole it.
